Bimexicano: Nuestros Clasicos Hechos Rock' Will Celebrate 200 Years Of Mexican Independence.

Nacional Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of 'BiMexicano: Nuestros Clasicos Hechos Rock.' The album celebrates the Mexican Bicentennial (200 years of independence) with tributes to classic Mexican songs, composers and performers that make up the country's rich musical history. It will be released at iTunes on September 7th, all other digital stores on September 14th and physically on November 9th.

Participating iconic artists span across Latin rock history including Jaguares, Enrique Bunbury, Aterciopelados, Senor Flavio (Los Fabulosos Cadillacs) and Kinky. The tracks are standards like "La Llorona", "La Martiniana", "El Son de la Negra", "Sombras", "Un Mundo Raro", "Bésame Mucho", "Cielo Rojo", and "De Qué Manera Te Olvido."

For Jaguares, participating in a bicentennial album has deeper meaning than the celebration of independence. "I think it's an important moment for all of us Mexicans to look back and try to clear up what we want for the future," says drummer Alfonso Andre. "It's a moment to reflect. We need another revolution, one of thought and truth that brings justice and progress for our pueblo so ruined over these past 200 years."

On 'Bimexicano,' Jaguares collaborated with David Hidalgo of Los Lobos for the classic son track, "La Martiniana." "We've always been fascinated with 'son,' an amazing musical genre more Mexican than the chile and with many variations depending on the region where it was created," Andre explains. "This song worked perfectly as it wasn't one that had already been re-interpreted thousands of times and it has such intense lyrics that fit the Jaguares style so well."

Jaguares vocalist Saul Hernandez elaborates: "Son music stirs up such dramatic emotions unique to our Latino identity. This particular track helps sum up Mexican popular culture's take on death. So there's a duality between that and such a grand message of life within the energy of the song."

Colombia's Aterciopelados were one of several artists invited to participate in the album due to their "honorary" Mexican status and legions of fans across the country. "Mexico has always been a magical place for us, especially with its strong sense of heritage, which has been a great inspiration," vocalist Andrea Echeverri says.

The Colombian music icons chose the ranchera classic "Un Mundo Raro" to pay tribute to for the album. "This track comes from a collection of songs that my mother would sing to me when I was little," Echeverri explains. "Our family would get together, celebrate and sing a variety of rancheras and boleros. That connection with 'ranchera' is something very deep that is part of our Colombian culture."
